FESTIVAL SUIDO exists because the Vinschgau moves to its own rhythm. 2026 is all about «a viecherei»: a livestock show at the heart of the festival, music, guided hikes through a remarkable landscape and many active participants, ready to surprise.

For one whole week, music sounds from the village inns, the smell of fresh bread drifts from the wood-fired oven in the village square, experts from three countries discuss the future of Alpine farming, and a cow is judged by entirely new rules. SUIDO 2026 is not a festival you simply attend. It is one you take part in.
The first FESTIVAL SUIDO takes place from 20 to 26 September 2026 in Schluderns in the Upper Vinschgau. It marks the beginning of a 12-year cultural programme by the BGO Bürgergenossenschaft Obervinschgau: 12 years, 12 themes, 12 opportunities to pause and look closely. The theme for 2026 is «a viecherei», meaning far more than farming.

In music workshops (instruments and voice), pieces are learned and performed in the evenings. Each day, concerts are dedicated to the theme «a viecherei», alongside theatre and performance with spontaneous appearances in village inns, the care home, the schools and across the village. Lively, live and not always predictable.
Hiking & Nature
Experiencing the Upper Vinschgau
Guided hikes around Schluderns and across the Upper Vinschgau, Monday through Friday. For the curious, families, school groups and anyone who wants to discover the region beyond the stage. Every hike ends with music and regional food.
Symposium
The barn of the future in the Alpine region
Three days, specialists from farming, architecture, climate research, veterinary medicine and more. They are not coming to talk – they are coming to find answers: what will the barn of the future look like in the Alpine region? The results will be documented and carried forward.

A livestock show unlike any before
On the final day of the festival, farmers bring their finest animals to Schluderns. Judged not by old guidelines but by the Triple-A system, a new model that puts long-lived, well-balanced animals first. Those who were there understand why the festival has the name it has.

FESTIVAL SUIDO is not an end in itself: it wants to set impulses, to engage with the stories, qualities and resources of the Vinschgau. The BGO (Bürgergenossenschaft Obervinschgau) invites all forces to take part according to their means – guided by the spirit of the times, by the issues that matter, and by a vision for the Upper Vinschgau to which children, artists, amateurs, clubs, organisations and institutions are invited to contribute creatively.
